Alchemist

A researcher who has delved into the chemical secrets of the world, The Alchemist uses potions and gas clouds to control the battlefield, enhancing their allies and weakening their enemies. A high-level alchemist can make unique Elixirs that go beyond what conventional potions are capable of, though each PC is only able to carry a single one of these elixirs. In combat, alchemists serve in a supporting role, absorbing damage, disrupting enemies, and supporting allies while dealing damage. Alchemist abilities benefit from Intelligence, while their off-tank capabilities benefit from their physical statistics.

In combat, an Alchemist is a supportive and resilient warrior, capable of enduring wounds.  Her gas clouds and elixirs, and magic lend versatile support to her party, and her outstanding intellect allows her to learn a range of powerful skills.

Beastmaster

A trainer of powerful and exotic beasts with a mastery of the natural world, the Beastmaster focuses on training a single magical creature for combat. While other classes fight alone, the Beastmaster and his companion work as one. Combining their unique strengths with their chosen master to unleash varied and dangerrous attacks. Beastmasters choose a companion at creation and level up with their companion, augmenting the companion’s strength and abilities as they progress. Bears, birds, wolves, manticores, or even wyrmling dragons can become companions to the Beastmaster. However, the time invested in training their companion can leave the Beastmaster at risk when fighting alone.

Beastmaster abilities benefit from Wisdom, while physical stats they gain from items become shared to their companion.  The Beastmaster and her companion form a bond like no other, shaping the future for both of them, and skilled beastmasters learn to always be at one with their companions.

Favored Soul

The Favored Soul is an individual blessed by the divine. They are chosen by a deity or greater power to embody divine magic within the mortal world. Unlike the Cleric, the Favored Soul is more physically frail, unable to wear armor. The Favored Soul learns her spells as a Sorcerer does, and has access to powerful divine magic that even the Cleric can never reach. In exchange, the Favored Soul is focused entirely on spellcasting, with little ability towards martial ends.

To cast a spell, a Favored Soul must have a Wisdom score of 10 + the spell’s level. For example, to cast a 3rd-level spell, a favored soul must have a Wisdom of 13.  At the cost of a Cleric’s resilience, the Favored Soul commands unique divine magic that no other can reach.

For complete information on the Favored Soul, see the Favored Soul page on the Thain wiki.

Warlock

Warlocks are resilient arcane spellcasters whose power comes from a pact with a more powerful being. While divine spellcasters draw their power from faith and belief, warlocks make direct pacts with fiends, fey, or creatures of the unknown. The warlock’s pact grants them the Eldritch Blast, a powerful damage spell always available at their fingertips, along with a range of arcane spells that grant the warlock a natural resilience and strength. The nature of their pact allows them to invoke their spells more frequently, without having to stop or rest as a wizard or sorcerer might. Though they are often distrusted by the world around them, warlocks can serve either the light or the dark, though the dark pacts they invoke often drive them towards act of cruelty that the wider world might not understand.

To cast a spell, a warlock must have a Charisma score of 10 + the spell’s level. For example, to cast a 3rd-level spell, a warlock must have a Charisma of 13. Note: Warlock will serve as an arcane spellcasting class for the purposes of leveling into Pale Master and Arcane Archer, but not for Red Dragon Disciple.

Blight-Walker

The Blight-Walker is a master or mistress of cursed magic.  A wielder of dark powers that blight and decay the things their magic touches.  Due to the dark nature of their magic, blight-walkers often live far away from civilization, within the natural world they must wound in order to invoke their horrifying magic.

After the fall of the rift, the Blight-walkers began to appear more openly.  Some believed them connected to the “Witchblight” that spread from Dragon’s Watch, but they have been reported appearing all across the island, far away from the Witchblight’s original source.  Some believe they have always been here, trained and apprenticed in secret within the woods and wilds.  Whatever their cause, the Blight-Walkers wield powerful curses and hexes against their enemies. They are often seen as pariahs within polite society, dangerous folk who most prefer to avoid.

The Blight-Walker is a dark intelligence-based caster who learns their spells from blighted altars throughout the land, which demand great prices.  Their dark powers offer them many feats of magic no other can possess, and they are masters and mistresses of curses and debilitating magics.

See the Wiki Page for full class details on the Blight-Walker.
