Getting Started

What Is Thain?

Thain is a world of challenging survival.  Not in the brutal mechanical sense of needing water and food and tents, but in the narrative sense – it is the story of a world ever pressed by the monstrous, in which small pockets of civilization that have survived the fall of long bygone ages of prosperity struggle to survive with the help of heroic figures like you, or against the antagonists you bring to the table. Learn About Storytelling and Player Events

The power of Storytelling is in your hands, not just a DM’s: Players on Thain have access to player eventing tools: a huge variety of placeables and VFX that they can dress their own sets with, any number of NPC appearances, releasable summoned NPCs, and the ability to speak through these NPCs to build a story. Learn About Epic Levels

Become a great storyteller to others, put forward great stories using your characters, and be recognized by your community: Thain is capped at level 20, but great storytellers who consistently tell (or participate strongly in) great narratives on Thain are often rewarded epic levels by Thain’s staff: Increased level cap, special abilities, and more can be the byproducts of a system entirely geared to reward the most outgoing and celebrate your efforts. Learn About Conflict

Tell stories of conflict in an environment of like-minded and mature role players who are ready for stories that challenge their characters.  Collaborate with your antagonists instead of fighting them using Thain’s custom /duel system to engage in narrative battles.
